"Stopping Sheetz in Michigan" Press Conference Held in Dearborn
The Middle East and North African (MENA) American Chamber of Commerce held a "Stopping Sheetz in Michigan" press conference & panel discussion in Dearborn on Tuesday, with remarks against the expansion plans of gas station and convenience store chain Sheetz in the state.
Sheetz, based in Altoona, Pennsylvania, opened their first store in Michigan in August of this year, and has plans to open dozens more in the state.
Speakers at Tuesday’s event included MENA American Chamber of Commerce founder and CEO Faye Nemer, businessmen Sam Nassar and Jay Hammoud, and Wayne County Commissioner Sam Baydoun. A panel moderated by attorney Ali Berro took place with panelists Cindy Victor of The Victor Firm and Tarik Turfe of the Hammoud & Dakhlallah Law Group.
Some proposed Sheetz locations, such as in Fraser and Madison Heights, have been rejected by officials, while other sites in southeast Michigan cities such as Taylor and Warren are moving forward.
