Sheetz Opens First Store in Michigan

Sheetz, the gas station and convenience store chain based in Altoona, Pennsylvania, opened their first location in the state of Michigan today, with CEO Travis Sheetz joining a grand opening celebration in Romulus

Several elected officials were present for the grand opening ceremony, with Romulus Mayor Robert McCraight giving remarks and proclaiming the day “Sheetz Day” in the City of Romulus

The company gave $5,000 each to Special Olympics Michigan, Forgotten Harvest and Romulus Parks and Recreation during the opening ceremony

Many customers came to the store on the opening morning, with some arriving hours ahead of its official 8am opening today

Following today’s opening of their 752nd store, the company is planning to open dozens of other stores in the state

Officials in some Michigan cities, such as Fraser and Madison Heights, have rejected proposed Sheetz locations, while sites in other cities including Taylor and Warren are moving forward
