Jack Pine 30 Sled Dog Race Kicks Off in Gwinn, Michigan

The Jack Pine 30 sled dog race returned to Michigan this year after a two-year hiatus, kicking off Saturday morning at the First Baptist Church in Gwinn.

The 26-mile race is one of three in the area returning this weekend after poor conditions for holding the race in 2023 and 2024 prompted back-to-back cancelations. The other two races, the UP200 and Midnight Run, began in downtown Marquette on Friday evening.

Viewers came out to the church on Saturday to see the race’s 10am start, as well as to see mushers returning with their teams in the early afternoon.
