“Parks and Rec” Actor Adam Scott Joins Team Harris-Walz’s “Fighting for Reproductive Freedom” Bus Tour in Ann Arbor
Actor Adam Scott, known for his roles in “Parks and Recreation” and “Severance”, joined a Team Harris-Walz canvass launch in Ann Arbor on Monday, part of the “Fighting for Reproductive Freedom” bus tour making stops in key battleground states ahead of the November election.
The event was held outside the Rackham Auditorium at the University of Michigan, at the north end of Ingalls Mall. Michigan Lieutenant Governor Garlin Gilchrist II, State Senator Sue Shink and State Representative Carrie Rheingans also spoke at the event.
The tour, which began earlier this month in Florida, has focused on the issue of abortion access following the elimination of nationwide Roe protections in the wake of the Supreme Court’s 2022 decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization. A recent proposed amendment to Michigan’s constitution, the Right to Reproductive Freedom Initiative, passed with over 56% of the vote in Michigan in November 2022, codifying reproductive rights and access to abortion in the state constitution following the Dobbs decision.
Monday’s stop comes with just 43 days until election day. Absentee ballots will become available to Michigan voters later this week, and early in-person voting will take place later in October.
