JD Vance Makes First Visit to Michigan as VP, Touts Trump Economic Plan in Bay County
JD Vance made his first visit to Michigan as Vice President on Friday, speaking at Vantage Plastics in Bangor Township, Michigan, just outside of Bay City.
The event marked Vance's first visit to the state since November, when he traveled to Flint for a campaign speech the day before the 2024 election.
Vance, joined on stage by his wife Usha, discussed Trump administration actions since taking office, focusing on economic policies, manufacturing and tariffs. Vance advocated for domestic manufacturing in the U.S., a theme consistent with Trump’s remarks both before and after the 2024 election. The event came as Trump has threatened tariffs on imports from numerous countries, sparking market concerns over the potential impact the tariffs could have on the economy. The administration has already implemented a 25% tariff on all steel and aluminum imports, as well as a 20% tariff on Chinese imports.
